We are on a mission to help nonprofits create measurable and meaningful impact.

Mockingbird Analytics was launched in 2015 by Jessica Payne after a decade of experience with educational research, nonprofit evaluation, and government social programs. During that time, it became clear that there was a need for smaller nonprofits to measure and demonstrate the effectiveness of their services successfully.

Throughout our time working with nonprofits, we’ve added more services to support the infrastructure that organizations need for assessing their impact. Grant writing, impact research, and capacity building are key services to building the success story of an organization.

To help deliver those services, we’ve created a collaborative of researchers, grantwriters, nonprofit experts, and IT professionals with over 70+ years of collective experience.

Years of experience have shown us that it is often difficult for under-resourced organizations to build their internal infrastructure and translate impact into numbers. These challenges become a barrier to serving more people. We work to support organizations looking for funding to increase their capacity to impact their communities through direct services, advocacy, and best practices.

We envision a community change ecosystem in which nonprofits have access to quality evaluation, development, and capacity-building services.

We see a future where nonprofits are supported sustainably for their service to their communities and have easy access to the information they need to help tell the story of their impact.

We strive for a future where nonprofits can expand their impact on the communities they serve with greater access to social justice and equity.

We are proud to be a certified Benefits Corporation (B-Corp).

As a benefits corporation, we believe that “social good” means telling stories that will benefit people and providing quality services that allow nonprofits to participate in evidence-based practices. This includes sharing the tools we create and our knowledge base with as many wonderful, hard-working organizations as we can. For us as a company, this means we strive to:

  • Create transparent practices;

  • Make ethical decisions;

  • Have a workplace that brings out the best in everyone;

  • Put into practice the principles of intersectional feminism;

  • Build pro-worker and fair labor practices;

  • Close the gender wage gap for all employees;

  • Innovate business practices for environmental justice;

  • Support transformative justice, abolition, and harm reduction services.

Who We Work With?

  • Organizations that practice justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in their work.

  • Organizations with progressive and inclusive values and programs.

  • Organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community and those who seek to expand voter and protest rights.

  • We only work with U.S.-based nonprofit organizations.

  • We do not work with organizations that support anti-science causes or those doing religious, missionary, or conversion work.

If you are an organization that shares our values, we’d love to connect.

  • Supporting our team. All Mockingbird employees are encouraged to take the time to protest and do whatever self-care or un-learning work they feel is needed for them personally. Relatedly, Juneteenth is now a paid holiday for all staff. The work will still be here as the revolution continues.

  • Supporting aligned organizations making meaningful change through charitable contributions and investments in partnerships.

  • We practice fair and equal voting access for our staff and civic engagement, including paid time for jury duty, voting, and election day poll work.

  • At our nonprofit arm, Mockingbird Incubator, we view our work as an anti-racist act, removing the gatekeeping and barriers to movement-based work and activism. Our diverse and representative board are trusted allies and contribute tremendously to our work.

  • We have mandatory, continual anti-racism and cultural humility training for all Mockingbird staff. We continually integrate a trauma-informed lens into our day-to-day operations.

At Mockingbird, we've been intensely focused on how to deepen our practices further to be a part of the changes that dismantle white supremacy.
